Man sentenced to 25 years for deadly accident in Pewaukee construction area

A man from Pewaukee has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for causing a fatal accident in a construction zone. Jade Moen, who suffers from epilepsy, crashed into the construction area at Pewaukee Road and Capitol Drive, resulting in the deaths of a 76-year-old woman and a 46-year-old construction worker. Another worker was also seriously injured. Despite surrendering his driver's license in 2021 due to his medical condition, Moen chose to drive and blacked out during the accident. The court found him guilty of being fully aware of the risks he posed to others. One victim's daughter, Katrina Kowalski, expressed her sorrow and disappointment over Moen's decision to drive knowing his condition. Moen accepted a plea deal to spare the victims' families from a trial and expressed regret during his sentencing, emphasizing the precious value of life. Judge Bridget Schoenborn deemed imprisonment as the suitable punishment, sentencing Moen to 10 years for each death and an extra five years for the injuries he caused. She underscored the seriousness of the offense, stating that Moen had endangered lives due to his actions.
