Man sentenced for reckless homicide in Milwaukee bus crash

A man from Milwaukee has been sentenced to 32 years in prison, with 27 years of extended supervision, for causing a fatal crash in April 2024. 30-year-old Danny Romero pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and other charges in May, with prosecutors dropping three of the seven felonies he faced in a plea deal. The incident involved a stolen SUV crashing into a Milwaukee County Transit System Connect 1 bus at 35th and Wisconsin, resulting in one death and several injuries. Romero, who was driving the SUV without a license, was pinned inside the vehicle and later admitted to police that he had never held a driver's license.
