Man sentenced for deadly head-on crash killing young mother in Wilkes County
A man has received a 5 to 7 years prison sentence in relation to a fatal crash that occurred in 2023 in Wilkes County. Joseph Wood was sentenced by a judge after being involved in a head-on collision on Macedonia Church Road on Sept. 26, 2023, resulting in the death of 29-year-old August Hill and serious injuries to her daughter. Wood faced charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and driving with a suspended license. Following his release from prison, he will be placed on supervised probation for three years.
