
Man killed, woman and teen hurt in I-17 crash
A crash along Interstate 17 north of Phoenix on Easter Sunday left a man dead and two other people hurt. The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-17 near Black Canyon City when a Lexus station wagon rolled several times, ejecting the driver, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.The driver, a 49-year-old Black Canyon City man, died at the scene. A woman and a 17-year-old girl who were passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A child who was also in the car was not hurt.Southbound I-17 was shut down for hours due to the crash.The man who died was not identified.The cause of the crash is unknown, but impairment is not suspected."There was no indication of tire or mechanical failure, or braking, prior to the vehicle exiting the paved roadway," DPS said.
