Man killed in crash at construction zone on I-4 in Champions Gate, troopers say
A man is dead after being killed in a crash in the construction zone along I-4 in Champions Gate, FHP said.According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 1 a.m. on Friday on I-4 westbound near State Road 429.Troopers say a woman was driving a jeep westbound in the center, outside lane when she changed lanes and ran into the back of another car.She did not see the man driving in the lane next to her, FHP says.As a result, the woman driving the jeep ran into the guardrail, and the man who was hit rotated and crashed into a construction vehicle parked on the left shoulder in the active Champions Gate construction zone.The 41-year-old man who crashed into the construction truck as a result was pronounced dead at the scene.The woman who reportedly hit him was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.The driver of the construction truck was not taken to the hospital.The crash is under investigation.
