Man in Las Vegas charged with felony DUI after deadly I-15 collision, per Nevada State Police

Law enforcement has taken a suspect into custody following a tragic accident on June 10th by the border on Interstate 15. Eric Halton from Las Vegas has been arrested on multiple charges, including a felony DUI, following a collision between a Chevrolet and a Honda on I-15 near mile marker 6. Regrettably, the Honda's driver, identified as 48-year-old Mazin Aljawhar from Las Vegas, lost his life in the crash. Halton was driving the Chevrolet, which veered onto the shoulder and collided with the parked Honda, resulting in the Honda overturning and Aljawhar being ejected. Halton was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and showed signs of impairment, with records showing his driver's license had been revoked previously for DUI. Toxicology samples have been taken from Halton, with pending results. Charges faced by Halton include felony DUI, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, failure to adhere to lane markings, failure to wear a seatbelt, and operating an unregistered vehicle. So far this year, Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Region One has responded to 31 fatal crashes, resulting in 32 casualties.
