Man in Kane County charged with vehicular manslaughter for UTV accident that fatally injured child.

A man from Kane County is currently facing serious charges, including automobile homicide, after a tragic accident that occurred while he was allegedly driving under the influence. Armando Garcia Becerra, 33, was taken into custody on Saturday. Court records reveal that Kane County Sheriff's Office deputies were summoned to the Mammoth Creek Fire Station after a young girl was brought in unconscious by her parents. The parents informed emergency responders that their 7-year-old daughter was a passenger in a UTV that had overturned. The deputies arrived at the crash site and were informed that the child had passed away. Becerra shared with the deputies that he was driving the UTV with the victim seated behind him. He admitted to having three minors in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident. Investigators noted the presence of alcohol on Becerra's breath while speaking with him. Upon inquiry, Becerra disclosed that he had consumed 5 to 6 16-oz beers in the hours preceding the crash. A blood alcohol content test conducted on him two hours post-accident returned a reading of .046. Armando Garcia Becerra is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence with a passenger under 16 years old, reckless driving, operating a vehicle negligently resulting in injury, and automobile homicide.
