Man from Southfield charged with causing fatal motorcycle crash while impaired
A man from Southfield is facing charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which led to a fatal crash that took the life of a motorcyclist in September. Paul Stuart Dickson, 55, is accused of causing the crash on 8 Mile Road in Southfield by failing to yield the right of way and colliding with the motorcyclist. Prosecutors state that the motorcyclist died due to injuries from the crash. Dickson was also driving with a suspended license at the time, according to authorities. The Oakland County Prosecutor, Karen McDonald, emphasized that this tragedy was not an accident, but a direct consequence of driving under the influence, which puts lives at risk. If convicted, Dickson could face a maximum of 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
