Man from Seymour accused in deadly Baylor County crash in 2023
A Seymour man, Tanner Wayne Gillispie, has been formally charged in connection to a tragic 2023 crash in Baylor County that resulted in the loss of two lives. Gillispie, 30, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday, July 23, and now faces two counts of manslaughter. He is currently being held in Wichita County Jail on a $100,000 bond. The charges stem from a Baylor County grand jury indictment on the same day, following a fatal incident on Dec. 4, 2023, in rural Baylor County. The crash, which occurred on U.S. Highway 82 just west of Seymour, involved a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 and a 2017 Toyota Prius colliding head-on. The victims, Anthony Rodriguez and Kimberly Perez of Lubbock, tragically lost their lives in the collision. Gillispie, the driver of the Dodge pickup, sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to Seymour Hospital following the incident. Reports indicate that an alleged witness claimed the pickup driver left the crash scene, although this detail has not been confirmed by authorities.
