Man from Herriman faces charges of 2 murders, sexual abuse in high-speed wrong-way crash

Salt Lake City – A man from Herriman is facing charges for causing a fatal wrong-way collision, which claimed the lives of two individuals, after allegedly hitting and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in a hotel parking lot. Jose Angel Torres Jimenez, 21, has been accused of two counts of first-degree felony murder, along with charges of forcible sexual abuse, aggravated assault, and DUI-related offenses. The incident took place on November 29 at the DoubleTree hotel, where Torres allegedly struck the 17-year-old girl with his car in the parking garage, following an altercation. Prosecutors state that the teenager suffered injuries including a concussion and needed staples for a laceration to her head. Shortly after this incident, Torres was reported to have caused a fiery collision on the I-15 freeway by driving in the wrong direction, resulting in the death of two individuals. The tragic events unfolded in the early hours of the morning, as emergency services responded to the series of incidents involving Torres.
