Man from Gulfport arrested for serious DUI following deadly collision

A man in Gulfport, Mississippi was arrested for aggravated DUI following a fatal car accident. Kymanni King, aged 39 and a Gulfport resident, was taken into custody on January 27, 2026. He is facing charges for aggravated DUI resulting in death and DUI causing serious bodily injury to a child. The incident took place on January 26, 2026, near 34th Street on Highway 49. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found a deceased woman and a severely injured child in the vehicle. The child was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital for urgent medical care. Police investigations indicated that King had crossed the median and was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 49 when the collision occurred. A breathalyzer test conducted on King at the scene tested positive for alcohol. King is currently detained at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $750,000.
