Man from Fonda handed down sentence for deadly Glenville crash in 2024

In Glenville, N.Y., Jonathan Emery, aged 33, was given a sentence of eight to 16 years in state prison by Judge Matthew Sypniewski following his involvement in a fatal crash in 2024. Emery, a resident of Fonda, had pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on March 14. The crash, which occurred on June 14, 2024, on Maple Avenue in Glenville, resulted in the death of Marissa Trapasso, aged 40, from Warrensburg. Emery was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine, amphetamine, cannabis, and methadone at the time of the incident. He was driving Trapasso to a methadone clinic in Schenectady when the crash took place. Despite Trapasso's familiarity with Emery, the car collided with a guardrail near Freeman’s Bridge Road, leading to the vehicle overturning and both individuals getting trapped inside. Sadly, Trapasso was declared deceased at the scene, while Emery was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Emery also had his license revoked and may need to install an ignition interlock device if he regains driving privileges in the future. Assistant District Attorney Nicolaus McDonald handled the case.
