Man from Addison was double legal alcohol limit in deadly Wadsworth accident, sheriff reports

A 58-year-old man from Addison has been arrested and charged with aggravated DUI following a fatal crash in Wadsworth that resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to four others over the weekend. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that Andrew D. Willard was determined to have been driving under the influence of alcohol during the crash on Saturday evening. Investigators stated that Willard's blood alcohol level was over twice the legal limit when his 2020 Porsche Macan rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Volt at a high rate of speed on West Russell Road at Frontage Road around 10:15 p.m. The collision caused the Chevrolet to collide with a 2020 Mercedes-Benz that was stopped in front of it. Unfortunately, a passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as 33-year-old Bogdana Mygal from Niles, sustained critical injuries and later passed away at the hospital. The Chevrolet driver and a 4-year-old passenger were also seriously injured but in stable condition. The occupants of the Mercedes-Benz, a 37-year-old woman from Rolling Meadows and a 40-year-old man from Schaumburg, were both hospitalized with serious injuries. Willard was treated for his injuries at the hospital, then taken into custody on Monday. He is facing charges including aggravated DUI causing death, DUI for alcohol, and traffic offenses, with the possibility of additional charges. Willard appeared in court on Tuesday morning, and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to request his continued detention until the trial.
