Man dies after running red light, crashing into car and tree

A driver is dead after a crash on the East Side of Columbus. The crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of E. Livingston Avenue and S. Yearling Road. Police said a person driving a 2020 Ford Fusion entered the intersection northbound. At the same time, a man driving a 2007 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on E. Livingston Avenue approaching S. Yearling Road when he failed to stop for a red light. The front of the 2007 Fusion crushed the driver’s side of the 2020 Fusion, police said. The 2007 Fusion continued northeast, crossed the westbound lanes, ran off the north side of the roadway and struck a tree. The impact ejected the driver from the 2007 Fusion. Columbus Fire transported the driver of the 2007 Fusion to Mt. Carmel East Hospital in critical condition where he died. That driver was identified as 26-year-old Tywan Horton, The driver of the 2020 Fusion is not injured. The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and is investigating.
