Authorities in Wilson's Mills, North Carolina are currently looking into the details of a tragic incident involving a pedestrian who was fatally struck late Friday night in Johnston County. The Wilson's Mills Police Department shared that the driver involved, Dewarren Compton, was returning home from a football game refereeing on U.S. 70 West (now known as I-42) around 11:50 p.m. The driver's car collided with a man who had stepped into the road while Compton was about to enter Wilson's Mills Road. The victim, who was attempting to cross US-70/I-42 after experiencing a vehicle breakdown, has yet to be named publicly as authorities work to inform his family. Chief A.Z.
