Man crashes car into tree, passenger dead in Mililani crash
MILILANI, Hawaii (KHON2) -- A woman has died following a car crash in the Mililani area during the morning hours of June 2. According to Honolulu police, a 77-year-old man was driving southbound on Meheula Parkway with his 76-year-old female passenger. While on the road, HPD said he drove over a raised center median into the northbound lanes. Then, he drove onto the sidewalk and crashed into a tree. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash and brought the two individuals to an area hospital in serious condition. Later that night, police said the Medical Examiner's office told them the 76-year-old woman had succumbed to her injuries and died. HPD said this is Oahu's 17th traffic fatality of this year, compared to 31 at the same time last year. An investigation is underway.
