Man convicted for Idaho crash that claimed 2 lives
In POCATELLO, a truck driver involved in a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals was sentenced to eight years in prison. Kenneth Dale Conley, initially pleading not guilty to two charges of vehicular manslaughter, ultimately accepted a plea deal in which the prosecution suggested five years fixed and five indeterminate. However, the judge, Javier Gabiola, ignored this agreement during sentencing, opting for a term of eight years fixed and 12 indeterminate. Judge Gabiola's decision was influenced by Conley's actions leading up to the accident, particularly his knowledge of the faulty brakes on the truck. Conley's attorney disputed the judge's ruling but ultimately stated that Conley would accept the sentence. In addition to the prison term, Conley was ordered to pay fines and compensation to the victims' families.
