Man charged with causing fatal crash that resulted in woman and infant's death

Kimo Medeiros, 43, is facing multiple charges after allegedly causing a fatal crash on Daniel K. Inouye Highway in Hawaiʻi Island, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a 3-week-old infant. The incident took place near Hilo, where Medeiros reportedly collided his truck with a family vehicle. Authorities have charged him with two counts of manslaughter, two counts of negligent homicide, and two drug-related offenses. Following the crash, one woman in the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while Medeiros and the rest of the occupants were hospitalized. Tragically, the infant passed away due to her injuries. Medeiros was arrested on Oct. 28 by the Hawaiʻi Police Department and is currently held on bail exceeding $1.5 million.
