Man caught after fleeing deadly DUI wreck in Gulfport
A 22-year-old man is now facing charges related to a tragic car accident in Gulfport where a woman lost her life. The incident occurred on Saturday night when Xavier Omar Rigby was driving at a high speed and hit Kjersten Aileen-Hermance Strang who was riding a bicycle. Unfortunately, Strang was thrown onto Rigby's car and he continued to drive with her body on his windshield for about eight blocks. Rigby did not call for help and fled the scene, but was later found at a liquor store displaying signs of impairment. He has been charged with DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and vehicular homicide leaving the scene. This is not the first time Rigby has been in trouble for driving under the influence, as he was arrested on similar charges in September 2023.
