Man captured by deputies following fatal Riverview collision.
A man has been arrested by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for fleeing the scene of a fatal crash that occurred in Riverview early Friday morning. Authorities received a report of the incident just prior to 5 a.m. near Providence Road and Bloomingdale Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased 19-year-old female driver, whose identity has not been disclosed. Witnesses informed deputies that the woman was struck by another vehicle running a red light on Bloomingdale Avenue while she was driving on Providence Road. The driver of the second vehicle fled on foot but was later identified as Roberto Carlos Meza Rosales, a 21-year-old Honduran national living in Hillsborough County. Meza Rosales acknowledged fleeing the crash site and exhibited signs of impairment, leading to his arrest on charges of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in a death. He is currently in custody at the Falkenburg Road Jail on a $200,000 bond. Authorities are collaborating with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to verify his immigration status. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no additional information available at this time.
