Man apprehended following deadly motorcycle collision in Spanish Fork

A man in Spanish Fork has been arrested in connection with the death of a motorcyclist in a recent crash. Rafael Alvis, 55, is facing potential charges of criminal negligence auto homicide and DUI. Reports indicate that Alvis struck the motorcycle at an intersection, thinking he had the right of way. Witnesses mentioned Alvis may have been on his phone at the time of the accident. Authorities conducted drug tests on Alvis, with a breathalyzer test showing a very low alcohol level. A Drug Recognition Expert concluded that Alvis could have been under the influence of certain substances. Due to these findings and the witness's statement, Alvis is now in custody without bail. This incident marks the third fatal motorcycle crash in Utah this week, involving victims aged 23.
