Man admits responsibility for deadly drunk-driving accident
A Struthers man from Ohio entered a guilty plea in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Monday for driving under the influence and causing a fatal accident that took the lives of a mother and her son earlier this year in New Middletown. Walter Bolt pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of aggravated vehicular assault. The sentencing is scheduled for September 16 after a presentence investigation. The prosecution is suggesting a prison sentence of 19 to 23 years while the defense attorney plans to argue for a shorter sentence, citing significant mitigating circumstances. Bolt, who has been in jail on a $250,000 bond, had a blood alcohol level of .215 at the time of the crash, well above the legal limit. The plea agreement mandates a lifetime suspension of his driver's license.
