Man admits guilt in deadly 2023 Kanawha County DUI collision

A man from Kanawha County, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty in connection with a DUI crash that resulted in the death of another individual. Ryan Jones entered a plea agreement for a charge of DUI causing death, as reported in court documents from Kanawha County Circuit Court. Jones is set to be sentenced on August 14, 2025. The crash, which occurred on the night of October 7, 2023, in Sissonville, involved a pickup truck veering off the road and hitting a tree. This incident led to the closure of Legg Fork Road for several hours. Both Jones and his passenger, identified as Dustin Myers, were rescued from the vehicle and transported to CAMC for medical care. Unfortunately, Myers passed away at the hospital. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies reportedly detected the smell of alcohol on Jones and observed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. Jones was indicted in January 2025 for his involvement in the case.
