Man admits guilt, confesses to deadly Waterford collision

A teenager from Troy, New York, named Everett R. Hatlee pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court to aggravated vehicular homicide. Hatlee, 19, admitted to causing the death of one passenger and seriously injuring another due to reckless driving under the influence of marijuana in June of the previous year. According to reports from the Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, Hatlee was speeding on Fonda Road in Waterford with two teenage passengers when he lost control of the car. The vehicle became airborne, crashing multiple times and causing the death of a 15-year-old girl, who was ejected from the car, and injuring a 16-year-old boy, who was seriously hurt. Following an investigation that showed Hatlee had been using marijuana before the crash, District Attorney Karen Heggen emphasized the tragic impact of speeding, reckless driving, and impairment by cannabis. Hatlee, who faces a potential sentence of five to 15 years in state prison, will be sentenced on August 25th at 1 p.m.
