Man accused of fleeing arrest in crash that killed Blount County deputy

A man from Lenoir City has been charged in connection with the tragic death of Blount County Deputy Justin Mowery, who lost his life in a crash while trying to apprehend a motorcyclist. Dalton Bowman, aged 24, is facing various serious charges including evading arrest resulting in the death of a law enforcement officer and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Additionally, he is charged with driving without a license and possessing methamphetamine. Deputy Mowery tragically passed away on December 28 following the incident on Miser Station Road. Through a collaborative effort involving Blount County investigators, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Bowman was identified as a suspect and arrested at a residence in Louisville. During the arrest, Bowman was found in possession of a handgun and a small amount of methamphetamine, and a stolen motorcycle matching the description was recovered. Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong expressed gratitude for the collective efforts of multiple agencies in investigating and solving the case, bringing some closure to Deputy Mowery's family. Appreciation was extended to the community for its overwhelming support during this difficult time.
