Man accused of deceiving officers following deadly Johns Island accident
In Charleston County, South Carolina, a 19-year-old named Irineo Pimentel Guerrero was apprehended by deputies for allegedly providing false information after a fatal crash in August on Johns Island. Pimentel Guerrero faces charges of driving under the influence resulting in death. Upon receipt of an alert about a crash on Fickling Hill Road on Friday, Aug. 22, deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office rushed to the scene. Pimentel Guerrero, the driver involved in the accident, initially told deputies there was another person in the vehicle, but a subsequent search failed to locate anyone. Subsequently, Pimentel Guerrero confessed that there was no other passenger. Following this, he was transported to a nearby hospital where blood tests revealed a blood alcohol level of .11 and a positive test for THC. Investigations disclosed that Pimentel Guerrero veered into the opposite lane, leading to a collision with a ditch that caused the vehicle to overturn and ejected Julian Navarro-Hernandez, 30, from the car. Several days later, a local resident discovered Navarro-Hernandez's body while inspecting their property, confirming his ejection during the crash.
