Man accused of deadly hit-and-run in Breckenridge Hills

A man in St. Louis County, Missouri was charged on Friday following a hit-and-run incident which fatally injured another man in Breckenridge Hills. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on St. Charles Rock Road, east of Wismer Road. The collision involved a unique motorcycle and an unidentified vehicle, and transpired as both drivers were traveling westbound on St. Charles Rock Road. The driver of the unknown vehicle, identified as Carlos Mejia Martinez, was struck by the motorcycle, leading to the victim being thrown from the bike. Following the accident, Martinez fled the scene, removing the license plates from his vehicle, hiding it in his driveway, and positioning another vehicle to conceal it. Surveillance footage captured the crash and Martinez's attempt to conceal the vehicle at his residence. The victim, a 35-year-old man from St. Ann, was taken to a nearby hospital after the crash but later passed away due to his injuries. Martinez was located, and he confessed to his involvement in the crash and fleeing out of fear. He was charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Martinez is currently in custody on a $20,000 cash-only bond. Details about his upcoming court appearance have not been disclosed in online court records.
