Man accused of causing deadly crash while intoxicated skips initial hearing

Luis Cruz, accused of causing a fatal accident while driving intoxicated, has waived his preliminary hearing and will now face trial in Lancaster County Court. The incident, which resulted in the death of 72-year-old Ralph Groff on May 3 in East Lampeter Township, involved Cruz crashing his vehicle into Groff's car. Blood tests conducted after the crash suggest Cruz was under the influence of cocaine and THC. Additionally, surveillance footage captured the moment when Cruz veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with Groff's car. The Lancaster County District Attorney's office also stated that Cruz's son, who was a minor at the time of the accident, was present in the car.
