
Major League Fishing angler involved in deadly boat crash on Smith Lake
CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Several agencies responded to a fatal boat crash on Smith Lake Wednesday morning. Officials with Cullman County EMA stated the crash happened around 7 a.m. in the area of Miller Bottom. A Major League Fishing (MLF) tournament is currently taking place on Smith Lake, and MLF confirmed to CBS 42 sister station WHNT the crash involved one of the competing anglers, Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick confirmed one person is dead. “Out of respect for those involved, and to ensure the accuracy of all information, no further details will be released at this time. MLF is working closely with law enforcement and emergency officials. Additional updates will be provided as they are confirmed by the appropriate authorities,” MLF released. There is no word on the number of people injured or the extent of any other injuries at this time. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash and will provide additional information at a later time. Major League Fishing released the following statement Wednesday:
