Major-injury crash reported on Highway 101 near Smith River
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Crescent City area office responded to a major-injury, two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Salmon Harbor Road in Smith River on Monday afternoon. The crash was reported at about 4:07 p.m., according to CHP. Authorities said the cause of the collision remains under investigation. Emergency crews remained at the scene Monday evening providing assistance and gathering information about the crash. CHP urged drivers traveling through the area to slow down, stay alert and follow all traffic control measures. Drivers also are asked to use caution around emergency responders working at the scene.
