Major fuel spill after crash involving semi-truck on I-15

UPDATE: Around 5:50 p.m., all northbound I-15 lanes reopened, according to RTC Southern Nevada. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Northbound I-15 lanes are closed northeast of Las Vegas due to a crash and a fuel spill Monday morning. At around 7:30 a.m., the Clark County Fire Department, along with crews from Mesquite and Moapa, responded to the crash, which involved a disabled vehicle and a tanker truck. Officials reported that the collision led to a fuel spill, with an estimated 1,000 gallons of fuel involved. The driver or the tanker truck was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, officials said. The disabled vehicle did not have anyone inside at the time of the crash. Additional resources have been requested from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada said northbound lanes of I-15 are closed at State Route 168 near Glendale. The crash is located about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The IR-15 closure was extended to 4 p.m., the RTC said. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said the cleanup and recovery efforts can take up to 12 hours. Drivers are being diverted to the US-93 and US-319. Others are urged to take alternate routes and drive with caution. No additional details have been released at this time.
