Major Crash on Indy’s West Side Prompts Closure of I-70
Early Monday morning, a tragic wrong-way collision on I-70 near downtown Indianapolis claimed the life of one individual, causing significant traffic delays. The incident occurred on the eastbound side close to mile marker 76.7, between Holt Road and Tibbs Avenue. Indiana State Police reported that two vehicles were involved. Traffic rerouting was implemented, resulting in the closure of all eastbound lanes and the entrance ramp from Holt Road. Motorists were advised to anticipate delays and consider alternative routes. Although I-70 eastbound reopened shortly before 8:30 a.m., residual traffic congestion was expected as normalcy restored.
