
Maine man charged with manslaughter 4 months after deadly Brunswick crash
A Maine man has been indicted on several charges, including manslaughter, in connection with a Brunswick crash that killed a Yarmouth resident four months ago.Jeremy Saxton, 45, of Harpswell, was also charged with aggravated driving to endanger, aggravated criminal mischief and criminal speed in the indictment handed down Friday by a Cumberland County grand jury.The Brunswick Police Department said the charges stem from a crash that happened on the afternoon of Dec. 11, 2024.Donald Harding, 75, of Yarmouth, was driving south on Baribeau Drive when his 2013 Ford Edge SUV pulled into the path of a 2019 Chevrolet pickup truck that was being driven by Saxton and traveling west on Pleasant Hill Road, according to investigators.Police said Harding died of his injuries at the scene, and that Saxton was not injured in the crash. Both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and the airbags in both of their vehicles had deployed.According to Maine law, a person who is charged with criminal speed is accused of operating a motor vehicle at a speed that exceeds the speed limit by 30 miles per hour or more.Saxton was arrested Saturday in Harpswell and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he posted $10,000 cash bail.
