Madison Woman Dies in Off-Road Vehicle Accident
A fatal off-road vehicle (ORV) accident in the Hanover area is currently under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers. The incident occurred when Charles Howell, 75, was operating the ORV with three passengers and drove off the road, resulting in the vehicle overturning multiple times down a hill. As a result, Charles Howell and Jacquelyn Howell, 74, were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital in serious condition, Donald McAlister, 55, was taken to King's Daughters Hospital with minor injuries, and Paula McAlister, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the passengers were wearing seatbelts or helmets. The authorities suspect alcohol was not a factor in the accident, but a toxicology test has been requested. Various emergency response teams assisted in the investigation.
