Lynchburg teenager faces reckless driving charge following fatal crash in Amelia
A tragic accident occurred in Amelia County, Va., resulting in the death of a man. Virginia State Police reported that a 17-year-old from Lynchburg ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Five Forks and Military roads around 6:55 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. The impact caused the teenager's Chevrolet Silverado to flip multiple times. Unfortunately, 42-year-old Jamie Wayne Johnson, who was in a wheelchair and properly secured in the front passenger seat of the Silverado, lost his life in the crash. The teenage driver and a backseat passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were hospitalized. The driver of the other vehicle, a 2018 Honda Accord, 73-year-old Dorothy Love El, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.
