LSP troopers make arrest in connection with fatal Washington Parish car crash
BOGALUSA, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with Louisiana State Police made an arrest in connection with an April car crash that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl in Washington Parish. LSP took 19-year-old Daniel Allen Teoulet into custody on Friday, May 29 and booked him into the Washington Parish Jail. According to troopers, the crash occurred on Monday, April 27, when the driver of a 2004 Nissan 350Z, who was Teoulet, reportedly refused to stop for a traffic violation and fled from the Bogalusa Police Department. When fleeing from Bogalusa police, the Nissan exited the road and hit a utility pole. As a result, the car's passenger, Destiny M. Matran, was killed, and Teoulet was seriously injured. Based on LSP's investigation, it revealed that Teoulet's actions, while he was trying to evade police, were determined to have directly contributed to Matran's death. According to a warrant obtained through the 22nd Judicial District Court, Teoulet faces charges of manslaughter, aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, no seatbelt and multiple traffic violations. This crash is still under investigation.
