Loved ones unite to mourn train crash victim, pay tribute with balloon release

The community in Champaign, Illinois is coming together to mourn the loss of a loved one who tragically passed away in a train accident. The incident occurred on Sunday night on Leverett Road, where a car was struck by a northbound Amtrak train and caught fire. Close family friends organized a gathering at Douglass Park on Tuesday evening to offer comfort and support to those who knew 34-year-old Kyle Clevenger. Despite the Champaign County Coroner not yet confirming Kyle as the victim, his family and friends strongly believe it was him involved in the crash. Kyle was remembered as a passionate athlete who excelled in both football and basketball, playing for Urbana and later at the University of Illinois Springfield and Lincoln College. His father, Wayne Clevenger, described Kyle as someone who always encouraged others to keep going and do their best. At the vigil, over 300 orange and black balloons were released in his honor, symbolizing his alma mater Urbana. The community's outpouring of love and support left Wayne feeling grateful and touched by the unity shown during this difficult time.
