Louisville woman cleared of charges in deadly Preston Highway pedestrian accident
A judge decided not to charge a Louisville woman for the death of a pedestrian in a crash shortly before Christmas. Pamela Speer was involved in the incident where Isaac Barkley was hit while crossing Preston Highway. Despite a detective testifying that Speer was driving within or below the speed limit in the turn lane, the prosecutor argued for a manslaughter charge, claiming Barkley was crossing legally and trying to yield. However, Speer's attorney defended her by stating it was not a safe place to cross. The judge ultimately ruled that there was no legal basis for criminal charges and suggested any responsibility disputes should be settled in civil court.
