Louisiana State Police probe fatal Hammond pedestrian collision
Authorities from the Louisiana State Police are currently looking into a fatal incident involving a pedestrian. The tragic event took place in the early hours of Monday on Interstate 55 close to LA Hwy 40 in Tangipahoa Parish. The initial findings suggest that a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was moving northward on I-55 in the left lane when it collided with a pedestrian walking in the same direction in the left lane. Following the first impact, the pedestrian was struck by a freight truck before medical assistance arrived, leading to their unfortunate passing at the scene. Fortunately, the drivers of the Hyundai and freight truck were unharmed. To respect the family, the pedestrian's identity is kept confidential until their next of kin are informed. This matter remains an open investigation.
