Louisiana State Police investigating fatal collision with 8-year-old involved
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office has identified an eight-year-old child who tragically lost her life in a collision in Bush. Louisiana State Police reported that Jewel Leger, aged 8 and from Covington, was a passenger in a car on LA Hwy 40, just east of Hurd Road, on Tuesday morning. Initial findings indicate that while the car was heading west on LA Hwy 40 and approaching a left-hand curve, it veered off the road to the right and collided with a tree. Leger, seated in the front passenger seat without a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. As the investigation continues, more details will be revealed.
