Louisiana State Police investigating deadly crash in Amite
Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Amite. The crash happened Saturday night around 10:15 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 1054 near Union Church Road. According to investigators, Shellie J. Taylor, 20, of Amite was traveling southbound on Louisiana Hwy 1054. For reasons still under investigation, Taylor did not negotiate a left-hand curve, causing the car to veer off the road. State Police said the car veered into a ditch, struck a utility pole, and collided with a tree. Taylor sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.
