Los Angeles motorist accused of running red light, causing violent crash
Law enforcement confirmed that a suspected hit-and-run driver was arrested after a violent crash in Santa Clarita in Santa Clarita on Sunday that was reportedly followed by a physical altercation between motorists. The crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Railroad Avenue and Oak Ridge Drive when the driver of a BMW, who was reportedly speeding, ran a red light and struck a vehicle making a left through the intersection, video showed. According to Key News Network who obtained the dashcam footage and video of the crash aftermath, tensions reportedly boiled over between two of the people involved in the collision. Responding deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to the outlet that one of those involved in the physical altercation after the crash was shot with a stun gun during the fight and detained, though it’s unclear which vehicle that person was driving. In footage of the incident aftermath, two of the three vehicles involved can be seen with heavy damage. The force of the collision caused the airbags in the BMW to deploy. A heavy presence of law enforcement and L.A. County Fire personnel responded to the scene, where the debris field caused by the crash disabled several vehicles who were at the intersection at the time of the crash. It’s unclear if any of the involved individuals suffered any injuries and were taken to the hospital. Traffic at the intersection was backed up while investigators gathered evidence at the scene and crews attempted to clear the damaged vehicles and debris. No further details, including the identities of those involved, have been released. It is also unknown if alcohol and or drugs may have been a factor in the collision.
