Lone survivor of Air India plane crash reflects on being fortunate yet losing everything

After barely escaping a tragic plane crash in western India that claimed the lives of 260 individuals, Viswash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor and a U.K. resident, has returned to his home country. However, the traumatic experience has left him speechless, struggling to communicate even with his family. The incident, which occurred five months ago on Air India Flight 171, resulted in the loss of all passengers and 19 individuals on the ground except for Ramesh, seated in 11A. Ramesh, still reeling from the shock, expressed disbelief and described his survival as a miracle. Tragically, his younger brother was among the deceased passengers. In addition to the emotional toll, Ramesh continues to deal with physical injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder following the horrific events of that day. Despite Air India's initial promises of support to affected families, Ramesh's legal team claims that he has not received adequate assistance or compensation from the airline. While investigations into the crash are ongoing, Air India states that Ramesh's well-being remains their primary concern and they are committed to providing any necessary assistance. The crash, believed to have been caused by cockpit fuel supply switch errors, has yet to be officially confirmed.
