LMPD: Fatal crash involving motorcycle shuts down I-64 in downtown Louisville
All lanes of Interstate 64 E to I-71 in downtown Louisville are blocked due to a fatal crash, according to police.Louisville Metro Police Department said the crash involved a motorcycle at the I-64 E ramp to I-71.The crash happened just after 11 a.m.According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was speeding when he lost control and crashed into a wall. Police said the man was wearing a helmet.EMS was called to the scene, where they pronounced the man dead.No other vehicles were involved.LMPD said that portion of the interstate is expected to be closed for the next several hours.They are directing drivers to use downtown streets and re-enter I-64 at Mellwood Avenue and I-71 at Zorn Avenue.The crash is under investigation.
