Legal action against MoDOT commission for deadly winter accident on I-44
A lawsuit has been filed against the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission nearly four months after a tragic accident on Interstate 44 resulted in the death of a McKendree University coach. The lawsuit alleges that negligence in properly clearing the shoulder of snow led to the crash. The incident occurred on Jan. 15, when Colleen Lischwe's vehicle was hit by a semi-truck after she was unable to move onto the shoulder due to dangerous conditions caused by improperly piled snow. Colleen later passed away due to severe injuries. The suit was filed by her husband, Casey Colgan, who is seeking financial compensation for himself and their young son. The lawsuit emphasizes the emotional damage caused by the accident. Efforts to reach out to MoDOT for comment were unsuccessful, as they stated they do not comment on ongoing legal matters.
