A man who suffered severe injuries after a tractor-trailer crashed into halted vehicles on I-35 in North Austin has filed a lawsuit seeking $100 million in damages against the driver, the Dallas-based transportation company that employed him, and Amazon. The collision on March 13 resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including two children, and injuries to several others. The driver responsible for the crash, Solomun Weldekeal Araya, was arrested and faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and assault. The victim, Nathan Jonard, who was among those struck by the tractor-trailer, experienced multiple serious injuries such as broken bones, a dissected artery, and other wounds. The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of Araya, ZBN Transport, LLC, and Amazon Logistics in their hiring and supervision practices. Jonard is pursuing compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages totaling over $100 million.
