Latest on Lincoln plane crash
The Lewis and Clark Sheriff's Office along with Lincoln Fire and Rescue have confirmed that a man tragically lost his life in a plane crash near the Lincoln, Montana airport on Friday night. The pilot was reportedly heading to the airport for a weekend hunting trip when the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m., resulting in the plane hitting trees and going down about half a mile from the runway. While initial reports indicate only the pilot was on board, the extensive damage from the crash has made it necessary for authorities to conduct thorough forensic examinations, including the use of dental records, to positively identify the human remains recovered from the wreckage. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are actively investigating the incident involving a Cirrus single propeller aircraft. The deceased individual's identity will be disclosed by the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office once it has been conclusively determined through forensic analysis.
