Latest information on Sunday's deadly collision on I-70
New information has emerged regarding the tragic head-on collision on I-70 in Dayton, Ohio over the weekend that resulted in three fatalities and one person being hospitalized. The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when a driver mistakenly entered the highway from the wrong ramp, prompting a 911 call to Huber Heights dispatchers. Upon reaching the 38-mile marker, authorities discovered two vehicles ablaze. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a 55-year-old man in a Chevy Tahoe had entered I-70 through the Brandt Pike exit, traveling in the wrong direction. The Tahoe initially collided with a Honda Accord, causing the Accord's driver, a 25-year-old man, to be spun into the central barrier. Continuing for about half a mile, the Tahoe then struck a Chevy Trax driven by a 22-year-old woman and a Chevy Malibu driven by a 33-year-old man head-on. Sadly, the Tahoe driver and the occupants of the Trax were pronounced deceased, while the Malibu driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The Accord's driver and passenger were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Alma Readinger, a witness passing through town with her sister, recounted hearing the collision and witnessing the cars burst into flames. Furthermore, the Sheriff’s Office indicated that they are still investigating the incident and will share more details in a forthcoming press conference.
