Las Vegas man killed, 4 hospitalized in Sunday crash on I-15 near Moapa
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A 21-year-old Las Vegas man is dead, and four people were hospitalized in a Sunday crash on Interstate 15 near Moapa, according to Nevada State Police. On June 28, around 6:40 p.m., Nevada State police responded to a report of a crash on northbound I-15 at mile marker 94 near Moapa. Police said a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was driving southbound on I-15, just north of mile marker 94, when the driver failed to maintain its lane, and drove into the dirt center median and entered the northbound I-15 lanes. The pickup truck then crossed both northbound lanes and crashed into the front of a Toyota Prius that was traveling northbound on I-15, according to Nevada State police. The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, identified as 21-year-old Diego Jesus Hernandez of Las Vegas, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The two passengers in the Tacoma were taken to an area hospital by ground ambulance. The Toyota Prius driver and passenger were taken to an area hospital by Mercy Air, according to police. Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command Region One has investigated 32 fatal crashes resulting in 35 deaths this year.
