Lansdale, Pennsylvania SEPTA station closed due to freight train collision

SEPTA had to stop trains running through its Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Regional Rail station on Tuesday morning due to an accident involving a pickup truck and a freight train. Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail reported that the collision occurred at the intersection of Broad Street and the Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad tracks near the station. Some individuals from the pickup truck were rescued and sent to hospitals for treatment, with no immediate update on their conditions. Chief Trail mentioned that the train included box cars and tanker cars, but their contents were unknown. Fortunately, no spills were reported at the site. Due to the incident, road closures have affected Vine Street and Broad Street, prompting drivers to find alternative routes and follow borough detours. SEPTA disclosed that the freight train was using its tracks, leading to the suspension of Lansdale-Doylestown line services at the station until operations can resume. Outbound services on the line will proceed as usual to Glenside Station, but inbound trips have been halted. The timeline for clearing the area remains uncertain.
